I Want To Be Free...
“I want
to be free” “Let me be free” “Set me free” “I want to break free” “Fighting to
be free” - Feel it do you?
Here… Hold
my hand, I just crossed the bridge!
Why are
we seeing/hearing this so often these days, especially on the social media? What
is this sudden, new freedom everyone keeps talking about? And why do they shout
it out to the whole world - is it an SOS call? Who do they need to come and set
them free, and from whom?
I’m not
here to critic or demean these feelings, no way! Someone needs freedom, I’d say
- It’s a must have. Everyone is ‘free’ to feel and express their feelings and
emotions. Just, what I wonder is - if any of these unfortunate/unhappy people
give any/much thought to these phrases before shouting these out. In fact, at
times, I just feel it’s the ‘in’ thing these days – Wanting to be free,
fighting to be free, etc.
It affects all; it’s life.
If it’s
not just the ‘in’ thing factor, and you really mean it, you really feel it, here’s
the crossing for you. Believe me or not (well, you might as well, coz I just
crossed over), it’s your soul/heart/inner being/self-consciousness/inner voice
(whatever you name it) - calling!
“Damn! I
knew it,” said a friend, as soon as I voiced the above to him.
Oh yes,
probably you did too, and I confirm it’s true - you were right! But that’s not
enough. You really need to get going and do something about it. And still,
what’s this freedom stuff about, anyway.
Decrypting the enigmatic cipher: “I want to be free”
“I, the heart/soul from the heavens above, am
an epitome of love, happiness, peace, and bliss. I call upon you; you - from the
planet Earth, are my savior. I reside in
you, and only you can give this to me. I know you want it too but we can only
have it together because I am you and you
are me.”
As you
must’ve guessed by now, the ‘I’, ‘me’ or the ‘one’ fighting for freedom in these
phrases is your beautiful heart/soul/inner voice etc., talking.
Who does
it talk to? It’s not talking, it’s screaming at full force to the conscious
you! It’s you, the physical you with your brain, who can actually ‘do something’
/ ‘take action’.
‘Free’
or freedom – The poor thing is captured within us and seeks to be listened to.
There were qualities engraved in it when it was formed. It wishes to fulfill those and then only it can be at peace
with itself. When you do that for your heart/soul, you set it and yourself free.
So who
holds it back?
Well,
it’s us, with the help of the most powerful instrument given to us – the brain.
Don’t get me wrong, the brain is not a
villain here. It was given to us as an aid to fulfill
our purpose in the world. But lazy us, we’ve let it become the pilot who flies
us and tries to dictate the purpose of our lives. Doing so, at times, it
becomes too rational, too coherent, too sane, too predictable, to be able to
resonate with the unpredictable rhythms of life. Busy in bringing stagnant
frequencies to your life, it forgets to preserve some time to set a course for
landings for you to do, to let go, to feel, to experience the divergent strokes
of life.
Slowly,
the innocent inner voice starts getting covered with layers and layers of
homogenous experiences of visiting the same colors
of life, again and again. The instrument is comfortable in that zone –
obviously, it has been able to set you on an auto pilot, for your life!
Bored of
flying, soon you realize – Oh no! I had to land somewhere, I had to go
somewhere, and it was not just the flying I boarded this plane for. That’s when
you know something’s wrong. Where has the pilot gone? Why is nothing happening?
You are flying, but why are you not heading anywhere at all?
You
panic, you start shouting. You start making those SOS calls.
May I
tell you folks – No one’s coming!
Why? And
where did the pilot go? Well, (Shockingly) there never was one – It
was you all the time! It (The brain) was an excellent instrument given to you as
an aid to fly and keep you in the air.
You asked it, instead of your heart/soul, for a flight plan and it put you on a
course where you may always be flying but reach nowhere. It just told you to
fly as much as you can, as far as you can (coz that’s what it does the best– keep
you afloat), to run away from the voices that tell you to land, to do things,
and fulfill your purpose. Now, if you
follow the auto-pilot flight plan – you’ll keep flying for long, and one day,
when the fuel is over (you know what I mean here, do you?), you’d be in air/nowhere,
ready to plunge into nothing. All the travel miles you collected – any good
now?
So –
Stop! Hover around, decide your destinations. If you don’t do so, you’ll remain
in the auto-pilot forever, something like
pushed into Space forever.
Now, I
don’t say stop doing whatever it is that you are doing or that it’s wrong.
I say –
Stop, close your eyes, and find that one exhilarating thing, that one thing
that you are supposed to do, for which you got a life! Just, if you’ve got time
to do that – you’re on the right path.
But if that one thing, which your heart knows you were made for, is not a part
of your life in any damn way – you ain’t going the right way buddy…
Be the
pilot while there’s still fuel. There’s a lot to explore!
If you
can’t find that rhythm your heart aches for, close your eyes, every day, till
you find it – believe me, you’ll find it. You definitely will. That voice will
reach you – it may take a while for it may be covered in those layers of
stagnant frequencies, but it’ll come. The day it does – you’d be on the path of
ecstasy, into the rainbow!
Get out,
get going – be the pilot of your life!
